I recently came across a tool called Flora Fauna AI (Flora AI), and I couldn’t wait to see how it would enhance my creative design process.
After my test, I have to say it’s a bit of a mixed bag. It’s an innovative platform, but I can see how beginners might feel a bit overwhelmed.
The image generation is pretty decent, but honestly, the video generation feels way too basic for my taste. I’ll get into the nitty-gritty of that later, but first, let’s take a closer look at what this tool is all about!

My experience of Using Flora AI
I conducted a little test on Flora AI myself. The first thing I noticed was that first-time users are granted about 500 free credits.
Compared to most other AI generation tools, this is quite generous. So, I was pleasantly surprised to see that.
Once I got onto the user dashboard, the first test I wanted to conduct was generating an image of a beautifully wilting flower. The tool's performance on this request was good.
It managed to produce a stunning, high-resolution, focus-lens image that was detail-rich and color vibrant.
But I didn't just stop there! I went on to test Flora AI's text generation capabilities.
So, I asked Flora AI to describe the image in detail. I liked how well it explained the scene vividly and creatively.
I then attempted to create a 3D image variation using this new text description. To be honest, the new 3D result was not as transformative as I hoped, but the texture change was satisfactory.
If I were to sum this test up, I'd give Flora AI an 8/10. The generations were good. Flora AI created the first image accurately, interpreted it well into a description, and generated another variation in a new style.
Next up, I wanted to see how Flora AI would perform with a more complex art design request. So, I tried to see if it could help me create a product brand ad campaign for luxury stilettos.
I was thoroughly impressed with the results on this one.
I started off requesting a simple 90s art style stilettos product ad poster.
From there, I asked Flora AI to generate an attractive product ad description to help promote the stilettos.
I then went on to use that description to create a real product mockup that could be placed on an online shopping website to sell them.
I also used the first image to create a new product ad description, which then helped me create another promotional image with an actual model for the stilettos, this time.
In essence, Flora AI provided me with a fair amount of ad material for an entire campaign!
For this test, I'd give Flora AI a stellar 9/10 for its incredible versatility.
On the flip side, Flora AI does have its faults.
For starters, it isn't the quickest tool out there. Even with its fastest model, it took at least 30 seconds to generate the outputs I wanted. Also, some of Flora AI's iterations weren't perfect.
For instance, in the test above, I requested Flora AI to generate an image of a futuristic ninja.
I asked for a variation of the ninja unsheathing his swords and holding them out. However, the generated image presented the swords in awkward and strange positions.
In this test case, I had to give Flora AI a 4.5/10.
My final test was on Flora AI’s ability to generate videos. So, I requested the tool to create a carved and glowing Halloween pumpkin with a scary animated smile.
Simple enough, right? Well, this was the result:
The good news is the pumpkin was appropriately terrifying. The level of detail and texture on the pumpkin was not bad, with the flames and general lighting also looking relatively natural.
However, I expected a bit more from the video. The scene was pretty basic with only simplistic camera movement. I also thought the pumpkin’s smile would be animated, but it wasn’t.
Also, I do find the costs of video generation on Flora AI to be a bit steep. Even for just this 5-second sequence, it took up a significant chunk of my credit.
So, that was another aspect that I found a little frustrating. I’d rate this video test at a 5.5/10.
For my last video generation, I wanted to see if Flora AI can handle a more complex video request that requires a different art style, multiple background elements, character detail, etc.
So, I requested Flora AI to generate two cute and fluffy Pixar-style mice dressed in tuxedos, eating cheese outside a restaurant in Paris with the Eiffel Tower in the background.
Sounds cool, right? Well, the concept for this was exciting, but the video output that was generated… not so much. This was the result below.
As you can see, the overall quality was subpar. The Pixar-style character design was slightly disappointing, but the real issue was how the subject's movements were just outright robotic.
It struggled to make them blend in and interact with their environment more naturally. This messed up what may have been a potentially well-animated scene.
The good thing was that the tool managed to capture every core element I requested in my prompt this time. I also noted its attention to background detail with the traffic, buildings, etc.
So, the scene composition is commendable, but other than that, it was not a great result.
I’d give this video test a 5/10.
All in all, I enjoyed the experience of using Flora AI. Its non-linear visual mapping gave me a free-flowing, creative design experience that remains unmatched.
I could push forward or backtrack on my ideas without worrying about losing track of what I originally generated. This ability to revisit every step helped me dramatically.
Flora AI also made prompt and visual refinement a straightforward process. All it took was a few simple clicks to switch and experiment with different art styles and AI generation models.
However, Flora Fauna AI isn't perfect. It clearly struggles with consistent prompt adherence and falls short when animating subjects and portraying scene interactions in a realistic manner.
With simple scenes like the first video that don’t require intricate subject movements or motions, it can produce relatively passable outputs.
But, as we’ve seen in the second test, the issue becomes even more obvious when it is faced with rendering more complex and detail-heavy scenes.
Simply put, I find Flora AI to be an innovative product. But, it still has a few teething issues to work out for it to be a practical and reliable creation tool for the everyday user.
